Ask These 3 Questions Before Booking Your Wedding Venue

There are probably a million questions that come to mind when planning out your dream wedding and finding your wedding venue. From the type of hair due and makeup to the hotels that need to be booked for your guests, there are hundreds of decisions to make and options to investigate. With that said, there are probably a few important questions that may get overlooked during this entire process. Hidden Creek has listed 3 questions that you should ask before booking your wedding venue.

What Is Your Candle and Sparkler Policy?

There are so many beautiful wedding photos and videos that include wedding guests and the newlyweds dancing sparklers in the night sky. There are also great theme ideas that include having candles light up all the tables and venue space outdoors. However, some venues do not allow you to use any real candles or sparklers. Make sure you ask ahead of time, so you can plan accordingly. Although this shouldn’t be the deciding factor, if it’s important to you, make sure you ask this question when finding the perfect venue.

Can You Leave Cars Overnight?

After a night of drinking and dancing, your guests are better off if they uber or take a bus to their hotel. You don’t want any of them to drink and drive. The best option is for your guests to leave their cars at the venue parking lot overnight. Make sure you ask the wedding venue if your guests are allowed to do that. You don’t want anyone to get their car towed because they did the right thing and called an Uber.

You want to make sure that Uber comes to the venue as well, so your guests have a safe transportation option in place.

Do You Have Someone on Property During the Entire Wedding and What Do They Do?

Due to the number of things that need to be planned out for a wedding, there are many roles people take. You will pair up with a handful of people when preparing for your wedding, and you may get some of their roles confused. It’s important to understand what every person will bring to the table, so you can ensure that everything is covered.

The venue person and the wedding coordinator are two completely different roles. The venue person does not line up the wedding party or cue the DJ with the special songs, etc. That’s not their role, that’s what a wedding coordinator does. The venue person is there to ensure that no lights go out, that the toilets are functioning properly, that the ice machine works, and so on. They help make the night go as smoothly as possible, but in a different way than a wedding coordinator does.

3 Reasons to Swap Your Wedding Registry for a Honeymoon Fund

Every couple is unique and deserves an unforgettable wedding experience. That’s why we’re going to suggest something a bit non-traditional… let’s talk about honeymoon funds!

Now, we know that most people just set up a registry for their wedding.

However, in today’s modern world– more and more couples are living together before they get hitched. This means that a lot of times, the bride and groom-to-be already have a lot of the things they want to decorate their forever home with.

With this in mind, it might be time to upgrade your current concept of great wedding gifts. Below, we will list 3 top reasons why you should swap your wedding registry for a honeymoon fund.

#1 You Already Own All Necessary Hamilton Beach Appliances

If you already live with your fiancée, then you’ve probably already combined your possessions and don’t really need more traditional registry items. Why ask for another toaster oven if you already have one?

If it’s a destination honeymoon that you and your fiance are after, then there’s no shame in requesting financial support from your loved ones. They’re already in the giving spirit and want to support you.

And hopefully– if you relieve guests of their societally-imposed obligation to shop around for a gift, maybe they’ll be more generous in sponsoring your honeymoon.

#2 A Honeymoon Fund Is Super Simple to Set Up

There are a few different ways to set up a honeymoon fund…

Honeymoon Fund Websites

If you’re looking for a fast and convenient option, you can consider registering with a site like Honeyfund or Zola. The only downside to registering with these websites is that they usually charge a fee, meaning that they take a portion of the money you’re gifted

Donation Box

Another option is to simply create a physical donation box and place it on your welcome table at your wedding. For added security, you can add a lock, or assign a trusted guest to keep an eye on the box throughout the duration of your wedding.

Pro Tip: Pinterest has a myriad of adorable ways to decorate your box! Get crafty, and make it personal for you and your groom.

#3 Guests Are Actually Gifting You an Unforgettable Experience

As we mentioned earlier, it should be easier for your guests to donate money rather than go out and purchase a gift.

But if you receive any pushback on this, just gently remind your loved ones that this honeymoon is something you and your future hubby have been dreaming about. It’s not just money that they’re giving– it’s the vacation of a lifetime with your sweetheart.

With this in mind, we have a tip for you while you’re on your honeymoon.

We recommend taking a photo of you and your special guy somewhere breathtaking. Then, once you return home, you can send out personalized thank you cards with your photo to every guest that financially supported you.

It’s a simple and sweet way to extend your gratitude to those that sent you off!

Keep These Essentials in Mind When Hiring a Wedding Caterer

There are many details to figure out when planning a wedding, and one of the most important ones is catering. Hidden Creek is proud to announce that our in-house catering is one year old now. We will go over some of the perks that come with our catering, as well as what to keep in mind when looking for other catering options.

Consider the Time Your Caterer Leaves

One of the most common errors that goes into wedding planning, is choosing a caterer that doesn’t stay until the end of the night. There are important factors that get overlooked when your caterer leaves too soon.

Water and Tea

When the caterer leaves, they take the water and tea with them. That means that the only liquids for your guests to drink are bar beverages. Although you may think that this is alright (who wants to drink water anyway), your guests will be thirsty after a night of dancing and drinking.

A lot of times, people want some water to take home, especially after a day of drinking. When you can only offer alcoholic drinks, that can become dangerous. If you have guests that don’t drink alcohol, then they will be left without any options too.

If you decide to choose a caterer that doesn’t stay until the end of the night, make sure you buy water bottles for the bartenders to give out. These water bottles will go very fast, so double the amount you are planning to purchase. Water is the number one thing that runs out at the bar, so make sure you have enough.

Busting Tables and Dealing with Trash

If your caterer leaves before the celebration is over, who is going to bust the tables and take out the trash? This is another reason why you should choose a caterer that will stay until the end. But make sure to communicate these expectations with them before choosing them. If you want to choose a specific catering company, but they don’t bust tables or stay until the end, Hidden Creek can help you plan that out. There are staffing companies that are just here to bust tables. We will get you in touch with one of these companies, so you can get that taken care of.

In-House Catering at Hidden Creek

Hidden Creek started its own in-house catering because we recognized that there were problems, and we wanted to provide a solution for them. When you book our in-house catering, we will make sure that you have water and tea all night, we will bust tables, and we provide complimentary cake cutting.

Cake cutting is often overlooked when planning a wedding, but it’s an important part of the celebration. When a caterer doesn’t provide this service, a friend or family member has to cut the cake. Cutting a cake can take up to an hour. It’s a process. That’s why we provide this as a complimentary service for you when you choose us as your caterer.
